At the beginning of the war, I went to the border of Poland and Ukraine. This was my first experience with a refugee crisis.

I saw people who were forced to leave their homes, their families and their countries. They lived in temporary shelters in shopping centers, school gyms or right at the train station. They stood in lines for food, water and medical care. They were scared, they were tired and confused.

They all hope that someday they will be able to return home and their lives will return to normal.

I will never forget what I saw on the border of Poland and Ukraine, the faces of the people I met there.
